Get Grounded! The Art of Earthing

I LOVE Earthing!!

Earthing, also known as grounding, is such a beautiful practice that can do wonders for your health. It goes far beyond just the feeling of peace that comes with being in nature, it is scientifically proven to heal!

So what is it exactly? Earthing is simply making contact with the Earth's surface and tapping into the unlimited supply of energy. This can be done by being barefoot outside or even done indoors by connecting to grounded conductive systems (grounding mats). There is an unlimited and renewing supply of free, or mobile, electrons on the Earths surface. By connecting to these electrons we alter our charge and receive the energy and health benefits that come with it!


Free radicals, also known as reactive oxygen species (ROS) are atoms that are missing an electron. These are highly reactive and damaging to our cells causing chronic and acute inflammation throughout the body. This inflammation can lead anywhere from immune system disruption, damaged connective tissue (like skin, hair & nails), to mutated cells (cancerous and precancerous cells). It would make total sense then that the influx of free electrons absorbed into the body through contact with the Earth is likely to neutralize these free radicals!

Grounding has also been proven to improve sleep, reduce chronic stress (lowers cortisol levels), reduce pain & inflammation, and it has even lowered the occurrence and symptoms of cardiovascular disease.

It is no surprise why this simple technique is something I highly recommend to all of my clients. We have become so disconnected to the Earth with the use of shoes, pavement, buildings, and everything that keeps us from being directly connected to nature.

So whenever you can, take a moment and step outside to get recharged and feel more connected. Or maybe check out some grounding mats to use at work or while you sleep. When it comes to your health, it is always worth a try!
